Heartbreaking final text message tourist sent to mom before she died after being trapped down active volcano

Following the tragic death of Juliana Marins on a hike, her final text messages have been shared

In every mom’s worst nightmare, the final text from the 26-year-old woman who died after falling into a volcano crater while on a hike has been revealed.

The grieving mother of Brazilian tourist Juliana Marins has shared her daughter’s final message, following the horrifying incident. She shared her love of travel with her family, and was texting her mom throughout the trip and revealed her excitement.

The horrifying final moments of Marins were documented after she fell from a cliff on a volcano on the Indonesian island of Lombok. She fell on the morning of June 21, leading to a search party trying to find her.

Gunung Rinjani National Park wrote on Facebook on Monday, June 23, they her location was being ‘successfully monitored using a drone, in a position stuck on a rock cliff at a depth of 500 meters and visually motionless’.

Tragically, it was confirmed on June 24 that her body had been found, and that Marins had not survived the fall.

Brazilian news program Fantástico has now obtained her messages, which were full of hope about the visit but bittersweet about her family.

The Sun translated the texts, which read: “Mami, I love you so much. I was heartbroken when we said goodbye.”

She told her family she was ‘not afraid’.

The messages continued: “In fact, that’s the only thing that worries me: letting you, papi or my sister be disappointed. Other than that, I’m not afraid of much, much less trouble,” she wrote.

“I was raised by a woman who can solve any problem and who is not afraid to take the plunge and go after her dreams. I am like that too. I have different desires and dreams,” Marins added. “I love you all very much! And I will always be grateful for all the support, care and affection. That is what makes me not afraid.”

The young woman’s family have shared their anger on social media, accusing the rescue team of ‘negligence’, and saying their daughter could have been saved if they had acted sooner.

They wrote on social media on June 25: “If the team had reached her within the estimated time of 7 hours, Juliana would still be alive.

“Juliana deserved much more! Now we are going to seek justice for her, because that is what she deserves! Don’t give up on Juliana!”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil shared the news: “After four days of work, made difficult by adverse weather, ground and visibility conditions in the region, teams from the Indonesian Search and Rescue Agency found the body of the Brazilian tourist.”

Marins was reportedly on a hike with a guide when the incident happened, as she had asked for a break, but the group carried on without her. When the guide came back to find her, they found she had fallen down the cliff.

Tereza Cristina from the Brazilian Federal Senate wrote: “The entire Brazil cheered and prayed that the rescue would arrive in time to save the young woman from Niterói, Juliana Marins, alive. Unfortunately, they could not save her. Very sad.

“Our condolences to her family and friends. And may the Brazilian government, through Itamaraty, demand an investigation of the facts and the punishment of those responsible in Indonesia.

“In practice, Juliana was left behind twice: on the dangerous trail and after she fell off the cliff.”

Previous hikers have described the route as ‘really hard’.
