‘Hamstering’ Is The Strange New Bedroom Craze Taking Over TikTok
One of the newest and most surprising ones to catch people’s attention is something called ‘hamstering.’
This bold and unconventional act is getting people talking—not just because of how it works, but also because of how completely out there it is.
Building on the already popular trend of car dates that TikTok helped make famous, hamstering takes things to an even more daring level.

The name ‘hamstering’ comes from the way it apparently resembles a hamster sipping from a water bottle spout in its cage. It’s a bizarre mental image, but one that explains the name pretty clearly.
While some folks on TikTok seem amused and curious, others are joking about getting ready to surprise their partners or make sure no one’s watching before giving it a try.
Zachary Zane, a writer and sex columnist, admitted he had serious doubts that anyone was actually doing this before it went viral online.
“I had never heard of this position before last week.” he admitted to Mashable.
Zane pointed out that while it might technically be possible to pull off, a lot would depend on things like the person’s height, weight, and how strong their core is while trying to stay balanced on top of a car.
Sex educators and podcast hosts Amy Baldwin and April Lampert agreed. They added that the person giving oral would probably end up in a position that’s awkward and physically tough to hold.

They suggested that taking breaks might actually be necessary to finish, which sort of takes away from the idea of it being pleasurable. It seems more like a stunt than something intimate.
Honestly, hamstering doesn’t really come off as some wild new sexual breakthrough. It feels more like a TikTok challenge that people might try just to say they’ve done it and not necessarily because it feels good.
That said, Baldwin and Lampert also pointed out that if the whole thing is done in good fun, it could add some spice and playful energy to a couple’s sex life.
And if you ever do feel curious enough to give hamstering a shot, Zane leaves you with one very important reminder: “For the love of God, make sure the car is in park.”
