Space Weather Researcher Warns Earth Could Be In The Middle Of A Once-In-6000-Year Extinction Cycle

Looking at today’s news headlines, it often feels like the world is on edge. With global conflicts, climate issues, and political tension, it is not surprising that people joke about living through the end times.

Now, a new warning from a space weather specialist has added to that feeling. He claims that humanity may already be in the middle of a rare and catastrophic cycle, one that could bring about what he calls a ‘geomagnetic disaster’ unlike anything in modern memory.

It ties into what he describes as Earth’s repeating ‘disaster cycle’, a pattern he believes has shaped life and extinction events across the planet’s history.

Ben Davidson, who founded the science platform Space Weather News, shared his concerns during an appearance on the Matt Beall Limitless podcast. His predictions were nothing short of dramatic.

According to Davidson, Earth could face a series of devastating consequences, ranging from giant tsunamis to global climate disruption and even mass extinction. He suggests that up to 90 percent of life on the planet could be at risk if the event he describes unfolds.

While this may sound like a scene from a movie, Davidson insists his warnings should be taken seriously.

He attributes the looming crisis to a rapid shift in Earth’s magnetic poles. This, he argues, could be triggered by what he calls a solar ‘micronova’.

For those unfamiliar with the term, a micronova is a type of sudden solar outburst. It is not a concept that comes up often, and Davidson’s use of it has raised eyebrows even among scientists.

It is important to note that Davidson’s position is controversial. Most experts in the field do not back this specific theory, although he strongly maintains his conclusions are backed by data.

In essence, a ‘micronova’ refers to a sudden solar explosion. While few experts subscribe to the idea that one is imminent, Davidson stands firm in his belief.

He argues that the idea is rooted in established geomagnetic cycles, insisting that his reasoning is, in his words, ‘bulletproof’.

He warned: “This is a near extinction-level event, and we are in the middle of it right now!”

According to Davidson, these events occur roughly every 6,000 years, and history shows that an even greater cycle happens every 12,000 years. The good news, he added, is that Earth is not currently caught in the larger cycle. However, he believes we are deep into the 6,000-year cycle right now.

He also highlighted that Earth’s magnetic field has weakened by about 15 percent since the 19th century, a drop that he thinks is a clear signal of what’s coming.

Davidson pointed out that auroras, which used to be extremely rare at lower latitudes, are now happening far more often. He claims there have been as many as ’15 to 20′ sightings in just a handful of years, a massive increase compared to the past.

He uses this as further evidence that Earth’s magnetic shield is faltering faster than most realize.

“We’ve probably seen 15 to 20 of these events. So, we’ve gone from, you know, one to three every decade to more than 10 in just a couple of years,” warned Davidson during the podcast.

He added: “What the sun is throwing at Earth to trigger those lower latitude auroras is far smaller than what it used to take as we look back into the past.”

To him, this growing frequency of auroras signals a magnetic shield that is breaking down and leaving Earth more exposed than ever.

Speaking with the Daily Mail, Davidson doubled down on his view: “Everything we expect to see is unfolding now, confirming we’re not just due for this event, it’s happening, and it’s a massive threat.”

He estimated that the catastrophic event he predicts could happen within the next 10 to 25 years. In his view, Earth is overdue for such a storm, as the last major geomagnetic upheaval happened back in 1859.

The 1859 event, often referred to as the Carrington Event, disrupted telegraph lines worldwide and even sparked fires. Davidson warned that a similar disaster in today’s digital and highly connected world would cripple power grids, wipe out water systems, and shut down food supplies almost instantly.

He stressed: “Within three days, there’s no gasoline at the pump. There’s no food at the store.”

He continued: “Everything we expect to see is unfolding now, confirming we’re not just due for this event, it’s happening, and it’s a massive threat that almost no one is addressing,” Davidson also suggested that authorities may be keeping information quiet to avoid causing widespread fear and panic.
